1,600 residents have benefitted from an ongoing free grassroots health outreach organised by the Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government which began three weeks ago.

The Chairman, Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area of Lagos State, Prince Usman Hamzat, disclosed this when he supervised the ongoing exercise.

According to him, the aim of the outreach is to achieve health care for all residents of the council area, adding that the initiative is in partnership with Ilera Eko, and Lagos Blood Transfusion Department.

“This is another avenue we are using to achieve our campaign promises to the residents and a core part of which is to ensure adequate health care delivery for every resident of the Ifako-Ijaiye local government area.

“We call on all residents to take advantage of the health outreach which is taken to their doorsteps.

“This exercise gives residents an opportunity to know and improve their health status.

“And we thank the outreach partners for their kindness and support to make the project a success,” he said.

He also identified some of the health services rendered by the outreach to include HIV tests, COVID-19 vaccine, immunisation, BP checks, oxygen screening, blood donation, supplements, health insurance, and free drug dispensing.

Hamzat said the health initiatives had been going round from one centre and street to another.

Rasheed Aderibigbe, a beneficiary, appreciated the council chairman for free medical outreach for the residents.

Aderibigbe added that such treatments would help residents to discover hiding ailments in the body system.

“Apart from the free screening and medical tests, we were also treated and given drugs without paying.

“We really thank the chairman for this opportunity and pray for more success in his tenure,” he said.
