The governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, has clinched his re-election victory to serve for a second term in the state.
The governor was declared the winner of the just-concluded governorship election on Monday by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Governor Bala who contested under the People's Democratic Party (PDP), won the election with 525,280 votes while his close rival, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar (Rtd) scored 433,272 votes.
Meanwhile, the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) candidate, Senator Halliru Jika, came third with 60,496 votes.
The result was announced by the Bauchi INEC Governorship election returning officer, Professor Abdulkarim Sabo Muhammed.
“I Professor Abdulkarim Sabo Muhammad hereby certify that I am the returning officer of the Bauchi governorship election in Bauchi held on the 18th day of March 2023.
“That Bala Mohammed Abdukadir of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared winner and returned elected,” he said.
