The Governor of Borno State, Babagana Umara Zulum of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has recorded victory over the People's Democratic Party (PDP), in the just-concluded governorship election in the state.
The governor has been returned elected governor following his defeat of the PDP candidate, Mohammed Jajari.
Zulum was declared the winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer, Professor Jude Rabo.
Declaring the result on Monday evening, Rabo said Zulum s scored 545,543 votes while Jajari scored 82,147.
The governor defeated his closest rival with wide difference of 463,396 votes.
Zulum is the third APC governor in the North East to secure his re-election victory.
The other two are the governors of Yobe and Gombe states; Mai Mala Buni and Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya respectively.
