The FCT Administration on Wednesday received high-tech comprehensive equipment at the Asokoro and Nyanya hospitals for newborn and infants.
The multi-million naira state-of-the-art equipment was donated by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), to help boost capacity to meet the critical needs of newborns in the territory and environs.
Receiving the facilities at Asokoro Hospital, Director General, FCT Hospitals Management Board, Mohammed Kawu, said the choice of Nyanya is because of its dense population and high birth rate while Asokoro, which is close to outskirt Towns and neighbouring Nasarawa State has been serving as referral point.
He noted that the gesture will go a long way in reducing child mortality rate in FCT and the country in general.
Also speaking, the Chief Medical Director, Asokoro Hospital, Dr Afiomah Uche, revealed that what the hospital received from USAID were critical medical equipment meant to assist the health personnel to ensure accelerated reduction of new born and pre-natal mortal and morbidity.
