Comfort Alaba, a resident of Piwoyi in the Airport Road area of Abuja has been arrested for the attempted murder of her one-year-old son, Michael.
The Punch reports that the incident occurred on Monday, January 2.
The child was saved by a male neighbour, after which a distress call was put through to the Police by Akingbero, another neighbour.
“The woman could have killed the baby if not for the intervention of a neighbour, Musbau Azeez before the police were later called upon by another good Samaritan, Oluwaseyi Akingbenro,” a source said.
Akingbero was said to have reached out to the Police division in the Lugbe area of the FCT at about 10:30 and informed them about the attempted filicide.
Comfort had tried to slam Michael, on the floor before he was saved by Azeez.
The mother and the child were later handed over to the Police along with a knife recovered from the incident's scene.
The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, when contacted said the Police was looking into the incident.
