DR Congo defeated Guinea 3-1 in the quarter-finals of the AFCON competition as they put three goals past their fellow West African counterpart on Friday night.

The Guinea side led by former Liverpool playmaker Naby Keita took the lead in the 20th minute thanks to a Penalty kick from Mohamed Bayo.

However, the DR Congo side equalized 7 minutes later to make it 1-1 thanks to an exemplary goal from skipper Chancel Mbemba.

Mbemba superbly controlled the ball from a resultant corner kick and set himself up from an angle only to volley home into the roof of the net. It finished 1-1 at half-time.

After the restart, both sides continued to press on to take the lead but it was DR Congo that found the goal they desired.

DR Congo was awarded a penalty and Brentford star Yoane Wissa dispatched it in aplomb to give his side a 2-1 lead in the 65th minute.

Both sides continued to press on for further goals, but DR Congo increased their advantage in the contest. Left-back Arthur Masuaku scored in the 82nd minute to make it 3-1.

And that's how it finished as they would now meet the winner between Mali and Ivory Coast in Saturday's quarter-final clash.
