Two more people have been taken in for questioning for the hit on SA rapper, Kiernan "AKA" Forbes.

This comes after three men were arrested over the weekend at the Erica Square shopping centre in Belhar, Western Cape.

Two others were captured only a few metres away.

Following the deaths of AKA and Tebello "Tibz" Motsoane in Durban on Friday, February 10, investigation teams had been monitoring the accused hitmen for weeks, according to IOL, a South African media outlet.

According to Network24, a South African local news medium, one of the accused is related to a series of cab killings in Empangeni, in northern KwaZulu-Natal.

Following several crimes in KZN in which they allegedly disguised as Department of Social Development officers, the men were tracked down to the Western Cape.

According to sources close to the inquiry, the individuals would go door to door acting as Sassa agents and promising to assist people to apply for grants.

The inquiry led the police to Belhar, where they watched the gang's actions before apprehending them.

Officers also discovered a white Mercedes-Benz, which was thought to have been utilized as a getaway car the night of AKA's murder.

The car is being checked for fingerprints and other evidence that might help the inquiry.

AKA and Tibz were slain while they were leaving Durban's Wish restaurant. AKA was on his way to play at Yugo, a nightclub on Florida Road when he was shot at close range.

The protocol was broken on the night AKA was murdered, according to AKA's bodyguard, Anwar "Dog" Khan.

If Khan had been with the rapper that night, he would have driven him from the airport to the hotel, the hotel to the concert, the show to the hotel, and the hotel back to the airport.

"No additional movements on the side. In my absence, ok, a protocol was breached. Kiernan was called and invited to go to Florida Road, Wish, which he accepted and he went.

"Had I been there then protocol would have not been breached. Because the call would have come through the road manager," Khan said.
