Church leaders in the country have weighed in on the lingering strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), expressing disappointment while urging the government to end the crisis.
Led by Pastor Abel Aiyedogbon, the Fellowship of Leaders and Ministers of Bible-believing Churches while speaking with journalists in Ilorin on Monday stated that the nation may be in jeopardy given how the issue was being handled.
"As a body and stakeholders to the destinies of our children, we appeal to the parties concerned, especially the Federal Government to quickly resolve the ASUU crisis", he said.
Aiyedogbon added: "Today is the womb of tomorrow, what Nigerians do with the nation today would determine how strong the country will be tomorrow.
"The Nigeria of tomorrow is certainly going to be what the ruling class of today organises it to be."
Speaking further, the church leaders said that the lingering strike action has shown insensitivity on the part of the nation's policymakers and stakeholders.
They added that the plight of the university students who have been suffering the consequences of the strike over the years should be considered.
