The All Progressives Congress (APC), Benue State Chapter has accused the ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of vandalising and destroying its campaign billboards in major cities of the state.

A statement by the Benue APC Publicity Secretary, Daniel Ihomun on Wednesday in Makurdi, the state capital, stated the action was an unacceptable act of thuggery.

Ihumun charged the state Police command to deal with any culprits found guilty of the act.

He said: "Information from reliable sources that members the People's Democratic Party, PDP, in Benue have mobilized miscreants and thugs that are destroying APC billboards, banners and other campaign materials across the State .

"This unfortunate trend is rearing its ugly head in every major town where our Billboards and campaign materials are being destroyed.

"We like to state that the All Progressives Congress in Benue State condemns these acts of destruction of campaign materials by the PDP because thuggery and violence have no place in our contemporary politics.

"We hereby call on security agencies in the state to be aware and to be on the lookout and deal decisively with those who are destroying our campaign materials in any part of Benue State under whatever guise .

The statement further called on the general public to lookout for anyone or persons who would come out to carry out these evil acts and should be quick to alert security operatives at the sight of such people around their vicinity so as to quell any impending danger in the state.

"The APC is committed to providing Benue State with a credible alternative that would bring dividends of democracy to the masses in the state and restore peace in our communities.

"The party urges those yet to get their PVCs to kindly proceed to obtain same so that they can vote out this government of incompetence, propaganda and deceit in the state," the statement added.
