Borno Women Affairs Commissioner Hands Over After Cabinet Dissolution

The Borno State Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Development, Zuwaira Gambo, has handed over the affairs of the ministry following the cabinet dissolution by Governor Babagana Umara Zulum.

The commissioner handed over to the Acting Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mohammed Hamza represented by the Director Admin and Supply, Hajiya Halima Chiroma.

While presenting the handover document at the ministry in Musa Usman Secretariat in Maiduguri, the state's capital, Gambo appreciated Governor Zulum who gave her the opportunity to serve the state. 

She explained that serving as one of the cabinet members of the governor gave her the opportunity to touch the lives of vulnerable people especially women, children and people living with disabilities in the state. 

She also appreciated Zulum who gave her a sensitive responsibility of managing and rehabilitating former insurgents.

While appreciating the First Lady of the state, Dr Falmata Babagana Umara Zulum, Gambo noted that the First Lady stood firm with the ministry to ensure that women and girls were protected through various empowerment programmes in the state.

She further appreciated the Acting Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Hamza for the support she enjoyed in office.

She also commended the efforts of the ministry's Directors and social workers who played a vital role in ensuring the ministry acheives on its mandate.

Speaking on behalf of the entire staff of the ministry, the Permanent Secretary, commended the exemplary leadership style the commissioner.

He explained that "her open-door policy and inclusive teamwork has brought peace and development to the ministry".
