Buhari Commissions Police Projects In Damaturu

President Muhammadu Buhari has commissioned various completed construction projects led by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba in Damaturu, Yobe State's capital.

The president led the commissioning of the projects on Monday evening.

The projects commissioned by the president included a fully furnished ultra-modern Police Hospital, completed with a hospital block, administrative block, pharmacy building, a modern accident and emergency centre, as well as a morgue.

Other commissioned projects include "A newly constructed two-storey structure to serve as the Yobe State Police Command headquarters fully fitted with furnishings, contemporary information and technology assets, and an elevator and access for persons with physical challenges."

The president also commissioned a new block of classrooms, an administrative block, and two hostel blocks for the Police Secondary School in Damaturu. 


As contained in a statement signed by the spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the president expressed satisfaction over the elegance of the projects. 

He further lauded the IGP "for his visionary leadership and commitment to better policing services for all members of the country, which has translated into magnificent projects for the Nigeria Police Force all around the country."

The commissioning event was witnessed by the Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni and his Borno State counterpart, Babagana Umara Zulum, president of the Senate, Senator Ahmed Lawan and the Chairman Senate Committee on Police Affairs, Senator Haliru Dauda Jika.

Others include the Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Mohammed Maigari Dingyadi, Service Chiefs – Chiefs of Army, Navy and Air Staff, Heads of Security Agencies and other distinguished guests.

According to the statement: "The Inspector-General of Police urges indigenes and residents of the Yobe state capital to make effective use of the international standard health and educational services of the Nigeria Police Force available to achieve giant strides both nationally and internationally as they cater to both the police and members of the public."
