President Muhammadu Buhari has requested the Senate to confirm Hon. Justice Husseini Baba Yusuf as the Chief Judge of the Abuja High Court.
The request was read at the plenary by the Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege on Tuesday.
In a letter dated October 4, 2021, Buhari stated that the confirmation was in accordance with the provision of the Nigerian 1999 constitution as amended, Section 256(1).
The Senate also passed for second reading bills to amend the River Basin Development Authorities Act 2004 and establishment of Federal College of Education, Idare, Ondo State.
Senators Ike Ekweremadu and Ayo Akinyelure sponsored the two bills.
The Committees on Water Resources and Tertiary Institutions and TETFUND will work on further inputs following the passage of the bills.
The committees were given four weeks to work on the bills and report back to the Senate while senators Bello Mandiya and Ahmad Baba Kaita chair the respective committees.
