Ahead of the planned 2023 census, the National Population Commission (NPC) on Tuesday staged a five-Kilometre road walk in Sokoto to sensitize its residents on the ongoing e-recruitment exercise.

Addressing the gathering, the NPC Federal Commissioner representing Sokoto state, Chiso Dattijo, urged residents of the state to participate in the ongoing e-recruitment exercise.

Dattijo said they can apply by accessing the portal for the recruitment of the commission as it is open online.

He called on eligible persons, especially youths, to take full advantage of the opportunity to contribute their quotas to the system.

The Commissioner promised that the commission provided equal opportunity to all persons as various categories would be enlisted in the recruitment exercise.

He said the committee, set up at the local government levels to supervise the recruitment process, will commence sittings from November 20, 2022.

Dattijo said the rally was jointly organised by NPC in collaboration with the National Orientation Agency (NOA) and urged people to come out and be counted by the enumerators during the census exercise.

Speaking also, State Director of NOA, Maude Danchadi, said staff in all the 23 local government areas of the state were mobilized to ensure the success of the exercise.

Danchadi assured that NOA would participate in more mobilization and sensitization exercises to ensure that the coming census becomes a success.

The 5.5-kilometers road walk started from the commission’s office through Miyetti Allah roundabout, Kano road, Abdullahi Fodio road and ended at Central motor park.
