An Ilesa Magistrate Court on Monday ordered the remand in police custody of three middle-aged men over the alleged theft of transformer cable in the Owa of Obokun’s Palace, llesa Osun state.
The alleged suspects who are facing four-count charge are Owolabi Abimbola, 33 years, Sulaiman Mutiu, 25 years, Samson Oluwafemi, 25 years and others now at large.
Police Prosecutor, Inspector Adigun Kehinde told the court that the defendants on May 11, 2022, did conspire to steal and divert for their own personal use a transformer cable at the Owa Obokun’s Palace.
Adigun added that the transformer cables valued at seven hundred thousand naira were the property of IBEDC, Ilesa.
He added that the offence committed by the defendants was contrary to Section 516, 400, 451(6), 383(2) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol II Law of Osun State, 2002.
The suspects had earlier pleaded not guilty to the allegations slammed against them.
However, the presiding Magistrate, A.O Awodele ordered that the defendants should be kept in Police custody and the case adjourned till May 18 for hearing.
