A Kano Magistrate Court has sentenced one Sadiq Miko to six months in prison for stealing a goat valued at N40,000.
The Chief magistrate, Zubairu Inuwa gave the convict an option to pay fine of N30,000 when he pleaded guilty.
Miko was also ordered by the court to pay the sum of N40,000 as compensation to the owner of the goat or serve nine months imprisonment.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) as reported Vanguard disclosed that "the prosecution counsel, Mr. Ahmed Sarki, told the court that one Isah Bello of Ranji Quarters Kano, reported the matter at Gwagwarwa Police Division Kano on July 10."
He added that at 10am on the same day, Miko stole the N40,000 goat in Ranji Quarters Kano.
Sarki added that the offence violated the provisions of Section 287 of the Penal Code.
