Popular Instagram celebrity, Ramon Abbas (also known as Hushpuppi) has been sentenced to 11 years imprisonment by the United States Central District Court in California for fraud and money laundering.

Hushpuppi was detained in Dubai in June 2020 as a result of a complex scheme that defrauded individuals in the United States, Qatar, the United Kingdom, and other countries of their money.

He was then repatriated to the US, where he was accused of bank fraud, identity theft, and various counts of hacking, impersonation, scamming, and money laundering.

To the counts of conspiring to participate in money laundering, he however entered a guilty plea.

Hushpuppi will now serve only nine years in prison after receiving his verdict on Friday (November 4), having previously served two years behind bars in the US.
