Dadin Kowa Dam Project Crucial For Development - Gombe Governor

The Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has described the Dadin Kowa Multipurpose Dam as a very crucial project to the development of the state and the entire North-East subregion. 

The governor made this known on Friday during the commissioning of the 40MW Hydropower Project, at the Dadin Kowa Dam in Yamaltu-Deba Local Government Area of the state. 

Governor Yahaya highlighted that the dam currently supplies millions of liters of water to the state capital and nearby areas. 

He also mentioned that with the ongoing water expansion project, the facility could provide 50 to 70 million liters of water daily to Gombe Metropolis and its surrounding communities.

He added that the dam also supports irrigation and fishing activities in local communities in the area. 

This was contained in a statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli, spokesperson to the governor. 

According to Misilli, Governor Yahaya explained that the completion and commissioning of the power project mark a significant achievement in achieving energy independence for the North East Subregion.

He added that the Dadin Kowa project along with the Kashimbla Power Project in Taraba, were the only grid generating plants in the region, making them crucial for grid and voltage stability.

The governor further explained that the decision to establish the Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park near the Dadinkowa dam was driven by the power and irrigation potentials of the facility.

He added that under his administration, Gombe State remains committed to achieving economic independence and sustainability.

"And with the current water expansion project we are undertaking, the facility could provide 50 to 70 million liters of water to Gombe Metropolis and its surrounding communities daily. 

"This is in addition to the provision of irrigation and fishing facilities to the local communities. 

"The completion and commissioning of this power project represents a milestone in the energy independence of the North East Subregion," the governor said.
