The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, Wednesday urged President Bola Tinubu to declare the amount of money saved for the nation over the controversial removal of fuel subsidy.

Also, Sowore reminded Tinubu of his assurances that his administration would save trillions of naira due to the recent elimination of petrol subsidies.

Part of his statement reads, “The president claimed his govt will be saving trillions of Naira from the removal of subsidy, where are the savings, he met the Naira at around N600 to a $, today it is N1,300. Muhammadu Buhari killed Nigeria, Tinubu came to bury it!”

Sowore's statement is coming as many Nigerians keep battling with the hardship that comes with the elimination of the petrol subsidies.

Since the elimination of petrol subsidies, prices of commodities have soared making it hard for the average Nigerian to buy some daily necessities required for their day-to-day living.

Meanwhile, amid the issue of fuel subsidy removal, Senate President Akpabio has pleaded with Nigerians to be patient with the government of President Bola Tinubu, saying that Nigerians will rejoice and forget the pain being suffered by the recent removal of the fuel subsidy.

Akpabio made the plea when the president appeared before the lawmakers to discuss the 2024 budget.

He praised President Tinubu for his brave decision to eliminate fuel subsidies and unify the nation's currency and urged Nigerians to be patient, believing that they will eventually find joy and forget the suffering caused by the removal of fuel subsidies.
