Electronic Arts Inc. (EA), has revealed that FIFA 23 will include women's club football for the first time with the addition of the Barclays Women's Super League and Division 1 Arkema, strengthening its position as the most realistic football experience in the world.
EA unveiled the first FIFA 23 trailer, which demonstrates how women's soccer will finally play a significant part in the game.
FIFA 23 is expected to feature men's and women's competitions from the 2022 Qatar World Cup and the 2023 Australia/New Zealand World Cup along with women's club teams from the top divisions in England and France.
Since 2016, EA FIFA games have featured international women's teams, but this will be the first iteration to feature clubs.
The Olympics and other international championships have helped the women's game gain popularity, and the 2022 World Cup will give it an even bigger boost.
There are far more leagues available for men's soccer than there are for women's, but it seems like EA plans to add more through future updates.
FIFA 23's Matt Lafreniere stated, "We're dedicated to constructing an equitable experience and hope to assist expand women's football."
According to EA, FIFA 23 uses the most recent iteration of HyperMotion2 technology to add cross-play capabilities and more "realistic" gameplay.
This feature uses motion capture data and machine learning to produce more fluid player movements during gaming.
Since EA and FIFA were unable to reach an agreement over money and exclusivity, FIFA 23 will be the last game with the FIFA name.
Although it no longer has exclusive deals with leagues like the Premier League, MLS, La Liga, Bundesliga, and Serie A, EA still retains rights for more than 300 soccer partners.
In the next releases, the series will adopt the name EA Sports FC.
