Peter Obi and the Labour Party have been ordered by the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) to present their joint petition against Bola Tinubu within three weeks.

The order was given on Tuesday by Justice Haruna Simon Tsammani at the resumption of proceedings, with the President-elect also instructed to defend his victory alongside the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) within five days.

The latest development comes after Obi through his counsel Professor Awa Kalu (SAN) requested seven weeks to establish his allegations against the electoral process that produced Tinubu as the winner.

Tsammani further declared that Obi must open his petition for hearing on May 30 and end same on June 23.

He added that the court arrived at the decision as a result of the limited time within which the petition must be disposed of.

Following the order, Obi who was in court requested permission and left after informing the court that it was in preparation for the full-blown hearing of the petition.

The court has also ordered the consolidation of the petitions so as to ensure expeditious hearing, discarding the objection of Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the consolidation.
