Elections: Do Not Infringe On People's Right During Celebrations - Bauchi Police

The Bauchi State Police Command has warned political party supporters to refrain from infringing on people's rights during celebrations or rallies across the state.

The command issued the warning to maintain peace in the state following the just-concluded governorship and state assembly elections.

It warned that the jubilant supporters must comport themselves in line with the provisions of the law.

It added that blockage of roads, fireworks, and inciting utterances would not be condoned.

This was made available in a statement on Monday signed by the spokesperson of the command, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil.

"The Command will not hesitate to decisively deal with any person(s) or group(s) who violate this order or deliberately cause the breakdown of law and order in whatever manner. 

"Those in violation will be arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law as security agencies have been deployed strategically and directed to ensure full enforcement.

"Against the backdrop of this development, CP Aminu Alhassan psc (+) urges members of the public to cooperate with the security agencies as many Police operatives will be seen at strategic areas, routes, and communities to suppress the antics and criminal activities of men of the underworld, he also encourages the public not to be tight-lipped in providing useful information that will aid the Command to effectively maintain the serenity and ensure the protection of lives and property in the State."

The commissioner also called on the officers to be professional and humane while discharging their duties. 

"The CP has equally ordered regular patrols, stop and search, raids, and show of force by tactical commanders to clamp down on pockets of crime and criminalities in the State."
