President Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to the explosion at a Kano factory on Friday, describing it as " extremely horrific".

Speaking in a statement by spokesman, Garba Shehu, Buhari stated that he was distressed by the tragic incident, the second in the city within four weeks.

No fewer than 200 residents in Sharada Quarters in Kano were rushed to the hospital for medical attention after inhaling chemicals from a cylinder dismantled by metal scrappers.

Commenting on the unfortunate development, President Buhari assured that emergency response agencies and medical personnel were doing what they could to save lives.

"Our brave emergency response agencies and medical workers are trying their best to save lives", the president stated.
