The Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni and the leadership of the State's Chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) have met to parley over the planned strike by the union.

The meeting took place on Tuesday in Damaturu, the state's capital, few hours after the news of the suspension of the planned strike by the national leadership of the union was announced.

The governor was represented at the meeting by his Deputy, Idi Barde Gubana.

He noted that the oil subsidy was one of the factors that contribute to revenue loss in the country.

He further highlighted that if the subsidy was removed, it would affect the majority of people in the country, noting that prices of goods and services would be high.

Buni further appealed to the national leadership of the union to embrace negotiations with the federal government than embark on the strike.

He explained that embarking on the strike would affect the common man, "especially when hospitals, water, transportation and other essential services are on strike."

Addressing Newsmen, the state chairman of the NLC, Muktari Tarabutu, commended the state government for its concern for the citizens of the state.

He assured that the movement was in the best interest of Nigeria with the hope that the federal government implements their demands.
