Adamu, a man, has lost both of his hands as a result of his elder brother's accusations against him for stealing his mobile phone.

The elder brother accused Adamu of theft.

Allnews.ng gathered that Adamu is from Sambi Daji village, Tumu District, Akko Local Government Area, Gombe State.

Zagazola Makama, a Lake Chad Basin counterterrorism and insurgency expert, described the horrific incident in a statement on Tuesday.

Makama reported that Adamu's elder brother, whose name was not given, seized him and bound his hands with a rope, intending to hold him hostage until he disclosed where he had hidden the phone.

“Unfortunately, the rope was too tight, cutting off circulation to his hands”, Makama said, adding that by the time the rope was loosed, his hands had become severely damaged, and doctors were forced to amputate them to save his life.

“Sad. His name is Adamu, from Sambi Daji village of Tumu District in Akko LGA in Gombe State.

“His elder brother did this to him after accusing him of stealing his mobile phone.

“The brother caught him and tied his hands with a rope, intending to keep him captive until he revealed where he hid the phone.

“Tragically, the rope was too tight, cutting off circulation to his hands. By the time the rope was loosed, his hands had become severely damaged, and doctors were forced to amputate them to save his life.”

Meanwhile, the Ekiti State Police Command has arrested Babatunde Olaoluwa, a phone theft specialist who targets worship centres.

His apprehension came after he stole seven mobile phones during a service at Christ Apostolic Church, Ayegbaju-Ekiti.

According to a statement signed by DSP Sunday Abutu, the Command's Public Relations Officer, Olaoluwa was caught in the act at around 16:30hrs.

He had infiltrated the church under the guise of being a member and took advantage of the worshippers' distraction to make off with seven different phones.

Further investigations revealed that Olaoluwa had been operating in Oye and Ayegbaju-Ekiti, with churches as his primary targets.

“Investigation revealed that the suspect, after meeting his target, normally sends the stolen phones through the motor park to Lagos where his friend will assist him to sell them and send the proceeds back to him through online transfer.

“Meanwhile, the seven phones he stole during his last operation at Christ Apostolic Church, Ayegbaju-Ekiti, have been recovered from him and some victims of his atrocities showed up in the station and have identified the suspect and their stolen phones.
