Guards Brigade Celebrates Buhari At 80, Presents Gifts

The Guards Brigade of the Nigerian Army has visited President Muhammadu Buhari to celebrate as he turned 80 years old.

The senior staff officers of the Guards Brigade were led by the Commander Guards Brigade Nigerian Army, Brig Gen Mohammed Takuti Usman on Monday. 

According to Usman, the visit was to "specially congratulate the Commander-In-Chief as he clocks 80 years of age and to further wish him many more years of celebration in good health."

The commander further appreciated the president for providing the Brigade with the requisite platforms needed to secure the Federal Capital and its environs.

He added that the president's support has yielded the security of parts of Niger, Kogi, Kaduna and Nasarawa states who share borders with the FCT-Abuja.

Meanwhile, in his remark, president Muhammadu Buhari appreciated the Guards Brigade commander alongside his team for their sacrifices and dedication to the nation. 

He further reminded them of the tenets of military service which he noted requires self-sacrifice and commitment.

The president also thanked God for sustaining him since he became the president-elect, adding that the Nigerian Armed Forces had lived up to expectations in addressing the country's security challenges. 

President reiterated his commitment to continue to serve the country. 

He also congratulated the Commander Guards Brigade and other senior officers of the Nigerian Army who benefited from the recent promotion released by the Army Council under his watch.

The event was witnessed by some members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) including the secretary to the Federal Government, Boss Mustapha, and Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari among others.
