Iyanya, the Nigerian singer, recently took to Twitter to reveal how he was unable to secure Nicki Minaj for the remix of his hit song ‘Ur Waist’.
In a series of tweets on Thursday, he explained the entire story, from the pressure to follow up on the success of ‘Kukere’ to the failed attempt at collaborating with Nicki Minaj.
According to Iyanya, after the success of ‘Kukere’, he and his team decided to make ‘Ur waist’ their next single.
The song was also a massive hit, and they decided to take it internationally by collaborating with Nicki Minaj.
Nicki Minaj
They flew to Atlanta to meet with a contact who had direct links to Nicki Minaj.
The contact took them to meet with several other celebrities, including R. Kelly and 2chains, before finally arranging a meeting with Nicki Minaj.
However, when they finally met with Nicki Minaj, they were informed that they needed $200,000 to secure a verse from her.
They managed to raise $70,000 but were still short.
Despite calling all their contacts, they could not raise the remaining amount.
To make matters worse, they had already spent a significant amount of money on flights, hotels, and other expenses.
In the end, they could not secure the collaboration and returned to Nigeria without a picture or a collabo.
So kukere was so massive we did all we could to get it out there and then came the pressure of the next single.

We had “Flavour” already produced and recorded but for some reason we felt it wasn’t the next single after kukere.
