About 3,200 less privileged people in Kazaure Emirate Council in Jigawa State benefitted from a N10 million cash Zakkat.
Zakkat is a compulsory alms in Islam that requires wealthy individuals to give out to a recognized authority to distribute to the needy or directly disburse the money (or any form the wealth comes in).
This was disclosed by the emirate’s spokesperson, Gambo Garba in Dutse on Friday.
He said that the money was disbursed to beneficiaries in nine districts of the emirate.
According to Garba, the emirate’s Zakkat Collection and Distribution Committee Chairman, Bala Muhammad had said same would soon be extended to patients in Kazaure Psychiatric Hospital and other health institutions in the area.
The spokesperson said the Emir of Kazaure, Alhaji Najib Hussaini, had promised that the Emirate Council would ensure regular collection and disbursement of the compulsory Zakkat, as he urged the wealthy to remember discharging their responsibility.
“The emir also called for fervent prayers for peace and economic prosperity in the state and the nation at large”, Garba said.
