The Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, CP Yekini A. Ayoku has visited the two offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state.

The Commissioner visited the facilities today to undertake operational tour in order to assess and upscale security deployment to the facilities.

This was contained in a statement signed and issued on Monday by the spokesperson of the Kaduna State Police Command, DSP Muhammed Jalige.

According to Jalige, the Commissioner was received by the Commission's Administrative Secretary, Alh. Auwal Mohammed Mashi.

The duo led the CP's security team to inspect and review deployments while "proffering professional advice on physical security of assets and materials."

"The security assessment tour was in compliance with the directives of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba psc(+), NPM, NEAPS, fdc, CFR, on the fortification of all INEC offices across the country."

The CP had earlier directed Divisional Police Officers and their supervisory Area Commanders in the state to "Ensure round-the-clock tight security around INEC offices in their respective Area of Responsibility (AORs)."

The CP further assured the INEC of the state police command's support and that of other security agencies in the state to ensure free, fair and credible 2023 general election.

He also warned politicians against violation of electoral laws.

"The CP sternly warned miscreants and mischief makers to steer clear of INEC facilities and advised political actors, candidates and their parties to play the game by the rules or have the law to contend with," the statement added.
