Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency KADSEMA) has commenced the profiling of people displaced by gunmen attacks in Chikun Local Government Area.

The Executive Secretary of the agency, Muhammed Mukaddas said this during a visit to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Kudansa, Maraban Rido community on Tuesday.

Mukaddas said that the visit was necessary following reports of an influx of IDPs from neighbouring communities displaced by gunmen.

He said the detailed assessment and documentation of the IDPs were to ascertain the demography of the affected persons.

The SEMA boss assured the state government would support the IDPs with relief materials at the end of the assessment.

He said so far, the team had assessed about 100 people comprising men, women and children at the time of the visit.

The executive secretary expressed delight that there was no outbreak of diseases or loss of life at the camp.

Mukaddas dismissed reports in a section of the media that the government had abandoned the IDPs.

He explained that the agency was not aware of their presence as there was no official report of any displaced persons camp in the area, until now.

“KADSEMA as the leading agency in managing emergencies including camp coordination and camp management for IDPs would always ensure the safety of lives and properties in the state,” he said.
