Kano State Commissioner of Police, Sama'ila S Dikko has confirmed that four persons have died from a blast at Aba road of Sabon Gari, Fage Local Government Areas, clarifying it was a gas cylinder, not a bomb blast.
Speaking shortly after today's blast, CP Dikko clarified that a gas cylinder used for welding exploded at the ground level of a building where a school is located at the top.
According to the Commissioner, four persons have been confirmed dead with many, including children, are reported to still be buried under the rubble as rescue efforts move at a snail's pace.
Many of the people around, mostly parents with fear their children may be under the rubble are blaming the government and Kano State fire service for the slow pace of rescue efforts.
Children, some as young as four are among those seen in the videos with injuries.
Sympathisers are still hanging around hoping for help to arrive soon.
