President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has blamed bandits and foreign militants for the deadly unrest in Kazakhstan,

The AFP News reported on Sunday, that the President of the country blamed foreign terrorists for the clashes happening in the country.

The unrest in the country began with peaceful protests over energy price hikes, and has since turned into an anti-government rally.

Over 12,000 people have been detained since the unrest erupted in early January. Among those arrested are journalists and rights activists.

Last Saturday, the country announced the death of over 225 persons including law officials.

The violence and clashes prompted the authorities to bring in Russian-led troops.

President Tokaye ordered the security forces to shoot at protesters last week, claiming it is in a bid to quench the budding violence.
