The mother of a three-year-old Junior Sagini, the boy whose eyes were mercilessly gouged out at the hands of a heartless gang that had kidnapped him in Kisii, has been arrested.

The child went missing on Wednesday, December 14, and was discovered a day later screaming in anguish with blood all over his face after his eyes were removed by the kidnappers.

Maureen Nyaboke, Sagini's mother, appeared for the first time after the heartbreaking occurrence on Sunday, December 18.

The 28-year-old Nyaboke visited the Kisii Eye Care facility where her kid is healing.

Unfortunately, medics determined that the young angel, who was attacked while gathering water from a nearby river, would be blind for the rest of his life.

Police apprehended Nyaboke as she prepared to leave and brought her to Nyanchwa Police Station, where she was booked under OB number 33/18/12/2022.

She was thereafter taken to Rioma Police Station for additional interrogation.

The vicenarian will be charged with parental negligence when she is arraigned today, Monday, December 19, at Kisii Law Courts.

Nyaboke allegedly left Sagini and her seven-year-old daughter in the care of their father and paternal grandmother on the tragic day of the attack.

She then worked as a bartender in Nyamakoroto, Nyamira county.
