Three Suspects Were Nabbed With Stolen Drugs From Nairobi Facility In Kenya.

Three people were on Tuesday arrested in Nairobi on suspicion of alleged theft of medical supplies.

They were apprehended by the Nairobi City County Enforcement team for allegedly possessing healthcare commodities and supplies.

The three were driving a Toyota vehicle loaded with stolen pharmaceuticals that had been flagged down by Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja.

The worth of the seized health products, on the other hand, is unknown.

They were apprehended and sent to Kilimani Police Station.

In response, Sakaja stated that Nairobians have suffered enough as a result of the absence of pharmaceuticals and that anyone standing in the way of service delivery will be dealt with.

"I have deployed over 100 Police officers in all county health facilities to ensure security is provided to not only the health facilities but also patients,” Sakaja said.

“Any staff found stealing medical commodities, and equipment meant to benefit Nairobians will not only be arrested, but I will personally ensure they are jailed.”

Sakaja described it as criminal behaviour, stating that both national and local security agencies are investigating.

He stated that he is in contact with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, which has announced the formation of a team to assist with the investigations.

He called on residents to work with the county to expose the illegalities, noting that chemists found selling county drugs will be deregistered and action taken.

"If you see anything unusual in our hospitals please let us know because we are doing all this for the common good of Kenyans,"

"I am telling those who are doing this to stop. It is a curse to steal from the poor who would otherwise have survived but end up losing their lives due to lack of drugs," he cautioned.
