Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State has commissioned a hospitality facility, the Shendam Marriotte Hotel.
Governor Lalong commended the brains behind the facility as well as the management consortium, Efan Hospitality Group for making a bold move to come to Shendam.
He said "As the motto of the Hotel suggests, Shendam Marriotte Hotel is a “Diamond in the South” which seeks to close the gap in the hospitality industry in this part of the State.
"Prior to this development, there has been perennial shortage of accommodation for guests who come to Shendam or the other parts of the Southern Zone for business, leisure or conferences."
The Governor said with the expansive road networks that the administration has developed in Shendam and neighboring towns, there is huge potential for economic activities in this zone.
He also informed the gathering that the Transmission Company of Nigeria has resumed work to complete the Makeri-Guratop-Pankshin 132 KVA Line which will supply power to the Central and Southern parts of Plateau, as well as parts of Taraba and Bauchi States within the next three months.
The Long Gamai Miskoom in Plateau, Martin Shaldas III welcomed the facility, noting it will boost the profile of Shendam, a gateway for people coming to Plateau through Taraba State.
Managing Director of Efan Hospitality Group Martina Akintola said the organisation decided to establish the hotel in Shendam because of peace, prospect and warm reception of the people of the area.
She assured that the best services will be offered when this critical power project is completed and commissioned, the entire Central and Southern Zone will witness a massive boost in economic activities.
