Eid-El-Fitr: Police mobilizes 1,527 officers in Akwa Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has announced the deployment of 1,527 personnel to enhance security measures throughout the state during the Eid-El-Fitr festivities. 

The Commissioner of Police, CP Waheed Ayilara, revealed this in a statement released by the command's spokesperson, CSP Odiko Macdon, in Uyo on Tuesday.  Read more here.


Benue holds mass burial for 17 herdsmen attack victims

Benue State government, had on Tuesday, conducted a mass burial for 17 victims of the recent armed herdsmen attack on Mbakyor community, Mbalom Council Ward of Gwer East Local Government Area of the state.

It was earlier reported that on the night of March 7, 2024, armed herdsmen attacked Mbaikyor community, where they murdered 19 persons, including a retired Army Officer and a boy. Read more here.

Plateau government begins process to resettle IDPs

The Plateau state government  has visited displaced communities to conduct an on-the-spot assessment of the areas, through the office of the Taskforce on Resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) as plans are underway to move them from IDP camps.

Air Commodore Chuwang Pam (Rtd), the task force chairman, on Tuesday, said the visit was to confirm the data presented to the task force by crisis-ravaged communities. Read more here.

Imo: Lawyer found dead inside bush after days of disappearance

The decomposing body of a lawyer identified as Garricks Anyanwu, has been discovered in a bush after four days of disappearance.


The lifeless body, reports said, was found in Orodo in Mbaitoli LGA of Imo state on Monday by wandering hunters who called the attention of the youths. Read more here.

Northern elders express regrets for voting Tinubu in 2023

The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has expressed regrets that the region voted for President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election.

Fire razes 200 shops in Cross River market

A devastating fire swept through the Ikom main market in the Ikom Local Government Area of Cross River, destroying atleast 200 shops.

Police arrest woman with 317 live ammunition

The tactical team of the 'Operation Zenda Joint Task Force' in Benue state apprehended a 37-year-old woman for suspected illegal possession of 317 live ammunition.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the task force commander, Felix Nomiyugh, confirmed the arrest on Tuesday in Makurdi. Read more here.
