The Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu, has revealed that lean resources were responsible for governors' rejection of the N62,000 minimum wage offered by the federal government.

Speaking in Birnin-Kebbi, Kebbi State, over the weekend, Senator Bagudu explained that the N62,000 was reluctantly accepted by states and local governments due to limited resources.

"The constitution has made provision to guide the President to send legislation to the National Assembly periodically on issues of minimum wage for the best outcome," he said.

Senator Bagudu highlighted the Tinubu administration's priority of creating a skill-based economy where Nigerians, including workers, can earn millions of naira.

He emphasized the President's goal of making Nigerians more prosperous through affordable housing, food, transport, and infrastructure for national growth and development.
