The head of Public Enlightenment, Kano Zonal Command, Aliyu Abba Kalli disclosed that part of their enlightenment programmes is to reveal the life-threatening risks of illegal migration.

He said the agency is working tirelessly incurring illegal migration and human trafficking.

Reacting to a story on some of the challenges illegal migrants, he said "This is what we try to tell them, we try to make them understand you may not make it there alive.

The NAPTIP Official lamented how some risk drowning and dying in the desert for a mirage image of abroad, compared to Nigeria.

"You know they are squeezed into ships and sometimes they all die", he said.

"They travel through a 2, 500km desert to reach the edge of Libya with risks of falling into the hands of insurgents, like Nigeria's Boko Haram," added Kalli.

He called on Nigerians to work to make their home better, as there are more chances of making it at home than abroad.
