Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District, Abba Moro, has condemned the attack on the home of  All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Alhaji Usman Abubakar, popularly known as Young Alhaji.

Young Alhaji’s house in Otukpo, Benue state was set ablaze by unknown persons causing damages to part of the mansion on Wednesday morning.

A statement signed by Moro’s Special Assistant on New Media, Emmanuel Eche-Ofun John, on Thursday described the incident as regrettable and very unfortunate, stating "whatever propelled the arsonists to carry out the abominable act was not worth it."

“The Senator appeals for calm and tolerance, and enjoins the people to be their brothers’ keeper."

While sympathizing with Young Alhaji, Senator Moro calls on security agents to fish out the perpetrators of the heinous crime and bring them to book.

The house located in Otukpo, Benue State was torched between 3 am and 4 am with the security post and a part of the building completely razed.

Young Alhaji confirmed the incident even as there are speculations that the incident may be related to issues within the state chapter of APC over the choice of the deputy to the governorship candidate of the party.

“Yes. It happened around 3 am. A section of my house and my security post have been burnt. They threw in a petrol bomb. It was done by people who don’t want the truth,” Young Alhaji said.
