The Yoruba Muslim Youths Organisation (YMYO) has faulted the stand taken by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) on the Muslim-Muslim ticket adopted by the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2023 elections.
Notable individuals from the Christian community have expressed displeasure over APC presidential flag bearer Bola Tinubu's choice of Kashim Shettima as his running mate, something that YMYO has now criticised.
According to YMYO coordinator Muritala Abdulsalam, CAN ought to focus on good governance and not the choice of the ruling party.
He wondered why Christian leaders were getting involved with Nigerian politics when CAN is not a registered political party.
“CAN should focus on good governance and accountability, rather than on the APC Muslim-Muslim ticket.
“CAN as a body of eminent Christian leaders, should not abdicate its primary responsibility by delving into politics.
“CAN is not a registered political party in Nigeria, why are the leaders getting more and more involved in politics”, Abdulsalam said.
