Nasarawa State Awe Legislative Arm has declared as null and void the purported suspension of its Clerk, Haliru Ahmad Jibrin by the council Chairman, Usman Umar.
This was contained in a letter signed by the Speaker, Abdullahi Hudu, on Friday in the state.
Umar had in a letter dated Wednesday, July 20, 2022, suspended the clerk over alleged insubordination.
Reacting, however, the Legislative Arm stated that the Chairman has no legal backing to suspend its Clerk.
“That the letter of suspension has no legal backing and therefore, null and void.
“That you do not have any legal capacity to suspend any Staff of the Awe Legislative Council.
“Accordingly, you're directed to withdraw the said letter forthwith,” the letter addressed to the Chairman, reads.
Similarly, they have in a resolution directed the council Chairman to suspend with immediate effect the area's Director of Finance and Supply (DFS), Aminu Dantani over “flagrant insubordination”.
The Speaker Abdullahi Hudu-led Legislative Arm had invited the DFS for the audience to give an account of the area's income and expenditure. This, he failed to comply.
