The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested Bukar Haruna, a blind man and Saka Haruna, his son in Katsina State for carrying hard drugs.
The agents noticed the pair while they were patrolling the Malumfashi-Zaria Road, according to reports.
It was reported that Haruna, 52, and Saka, 30, were travelling to the Niger Republic with 20.5kg of marijuana and 10g of exol-5.
They are natives of the Niger Republic's Damagram region.
In a statement on Sunday, the NDLEA's Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi acknowledged the news.
Babafemi also disclosed that a minimum of 2,685.5kgs of cannabis were found in four separate operations carried out in various sections of Edo State last week.
On November 2, 2022, four suspects, Chukueke Igba, 32; Solomon Peter, 34; Emmanuel Jeremiah, 36; and Happiness Chidi, 37, were arrested after 53 bags of Cannabis Sativa weighing 742.5kgs were found at a camp in Esioriri, Owan East Local Government Area. A subsequent raid at the home of Joy Zubaru, 45, resulted in her arrest and 30.5kgs of cannabis being found.
