The Niger State government has stated that renewable energy has been identified as one of the 21st century skills and major driver to get more youths engaged.

The Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello, made this known during interaction at Portcullis House, London on policies that would bring about youth engagement, women empowerment and improved girl child education.

Governor Bello also observed that renewable energy is capable of improving energy and addressing electricity inequality not only in the state but the country at large as it can be deployed in both rural and urban areas.

He said his administration is committed to initiating programmes, policies and projects that have direct bearing on youths in the state hence, he intends to establish a Renewable Energy Agency and Institute to engage and train youths including the girl child across the state.

The meeting also afforded the Governor the  opportunity to discuss how the UK government can support in sponsoring Judicial Training for magistrate courts and continuity of the programme in the state.

Responding, Member of Parliament, Helen Grant who lauded the initiative promised to provide all the needed support to achieve the desired results as it concerns women and the girl child.
