The Nigerian Army has recorded success in the rescue of three kidnap victims in an operation by Troops of Operation Forest Sanity in Kaduna state.
During the operation, several camps controlled by bandits were destroyed in the forests of Chikun, Kachia and Kajuru Local Government Areas of the state.
This was contained in a statement signed and issued by the state's commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan on Wednesday.
According to Aruwan, the troops engaged the bandits around Kwanti in Chikun council area.
The bandits who were overpowered by the troops fled into the forest leaving behind four motorcycles.
Aruwan said dozens of the bandit camps were destroyed in the operation.
According to the statement: "Upon scouring the area, the troops found two male kidnapped victims, identified as Muntaka Abubakar and Nwabueze John.
'Also discovered were the corpses of two unidentified female victims who had been killed by the bandits.
"The corpses were evacuated while the rescued victims were reunited with their families after first aid was administered to one of them who was carrying an injury.
"Another kidnapped victim, 85-year-old Tabawa Laraba, was rescued by the troops in Kuzo general area.
"She was examined and debriefed before being reunited with her family."
Meanwhile, in Abrom, Gabachuwa and Kujeni forest areas spanning Kajuru, Chikun and Kachia LGAs, the bandits fled when they sighted the troops advancing to their location.
Items recovered in the camps included two damaged AK-47 rifles, three mobile phones, some military uniforms and materials for making explosives.
The statement added that: "The Kaduna State Government thanked and commended the troops for the successful operations and rescue of the victims while sending heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims executed by the bandits."
According to the statement, the state government further appealed to its citizens to support with vital information about suspicious individuals seeking medical attention, adding that one could "reach out to the Operations Room on 09034000060 and 08170189999".
