The Nintendo Switch Online software, which enables Nintendo Switch owners to access game-specific features, discover online friends, and use voice chat during online matches on a smartphone or tablet, has received an update. Users can now send friend invitations directly from the app thanks to the update.
The ability to issue friend requests using Nintendo's buddy code has been added to the app, as stated in the release notes for Nintendo Switch Online version 2.2.0.
Furthermore, Nintendo claims that users can now share their friend code as a QR Code or a URL, making it simpler to send friend invitations.
However, you can only accept a friend request from a Nintendo Switch device for the time being.
This implies that even if you have the Nintendo Switch Online software installed, you cannot accept a friend request from a smartphone or tablet.
The Nintendo Switch's new code system for multiplayer games is viewed as a "step back" from the Nintendo Network ID system used by the Wii U.
With new ways to help people identify and add their friends, it appears like Nintendo has been attempting to remedy the issue.
Earlier this month, Nintendo confirmed via a tweet on its Japanese account that some older iPhone and iPad models will no longer be supported by an update to the Nintendo Switch Online software.
The iOS app was updated on Tuesday and the previous version was only compatible with iOS 12 and later devices.
The new version now demands a device running iOS 14.
In other words, the app is no longer compatible with the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPad Air 1, iPad Mini 3, or iPod Touch 6th generation.
In order to continue using the app, simply update your device to the most recent iOS version if it was purchased after iOS 12 was released. Navigate to Settings > General > About to see the iOS version installed on your iPhone and iPad.
