The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu on Monday defied the Federal High Court in Abuja by refusing to show up for trial.
According to reports, Kanu's refusal to show up in court is his way of protesting against the federal government's refusal to abide by a Court of Appeal judgement that ordered his release from detention.
The development was disclosed by the federal government counsel, Mohammed Abubakar who informed Justice Binta Nyako of Kanu's absence.
According to Abubakar, all efforts to make the embattled IPOB leader change his mind proved futile as he stood his ground.
It was further revealed that Kanu plans to be absent from court until the October 13 judgement of the Court of Appeal is respected and obeyed and he is released from the custody of the Department of the State Service (DSS) in Abuja.
