Patience Ndidi Key, Nigerian In Diaspora Who Wants To Rule Nigeria

The health professional, Patience Ndidi Key is the immediate past Chairman, Board of Directors of Nigerians in Diaspora Organization Americas (NIDOA), United States of America (USA), and past President of the Maryland Chapter of the same organization.

Patience hails from Ekekhen, Igueben Local Government Area Of Edo State. She is the Founder and CEO of P-Key Health Solutions Incorporated and the Co-owner of Divine Home Healthcare. The health professional is a politician under the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).

Education

Patience has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geography and Regional Planning from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State, and another Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Coppin State University, Baltimore, USA. She also bagged her Master of Public Health from Walden University, USA.

The certified health professional is a certified Agile Project Management and Scrum Master 

Post Education

She has held several leadership positions in spaces dominated by the male gender. This started in her alma mater, Ambrose Alli University where she was asked to contest for Vice President. Having won the election, she worked as the only lady in a team that consisted of nine men.

Patience Key

After the establishment of the Maryland chapter of NIDO, a continental nonprofit organization that advocates for the interest of Nigerians in the Western part of the world in 2014, a body dominated by men, Patience contested for President of the chapter alongside men. According to her, she contested because she did not want an incompetent person to hold the position. Surprisingly, she won the election by 88% votes, becoming the first female president of that chapter of the organization.

The female president did not relent as she went on to contest for the Public Relation officer of the entire USA Board. She again contested alongside a man who eventually stepped down, making her attain the position. A position she held till 2017.

After her tenure as the PRO of the Board, Patience in a bid to continue in her quest for the betterment of the organization contested for the chairmanship of the board, a position dominated by male contestants. Seeing her progress in the organization, the men were afraid they would lose the election, making her win the election and become the first female chairman of the Board (2017-2020).

Over the years, Patience Key has been at the forefront of the progress of NIDO as she led the first NIDO Americas Annual Summit and Annual General Meeting, she was instrumental in the establishment of the NIDO Chamber of Commerce (a platform to help Nigerians who want to do business in the US and vice versa, and she facilitated the creation of the platform for the database of Nigerians in the U.S. which will be launched soon.

As Chairman of NIDO, Patience led the organization to distribute palliatives to the vulnerable populations in Lagos State, Nigeria in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic.

She recently received the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award under the leadership of President Joe Biden, an award annually given by Presidents of the United States to individuals who are selflessly serving the community. 

Political Ambition

Patience Key is a member of the Peoples Redemption Party, a party chaired by Alhaji Falalu Bello. She is of the notion that Nigeria needs visionary leaders to take her out of her problems. To her, the leadership of the country needs a complete turnaround for success to be achieved. She has however not held any political position in Nigeria.

The Nigerian in Diaspora on November 23, 2021, declared her intention to run for President in the 2023 presidential election. In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in New York on February 8, 2022, the presidential aspirant of the PRP said if elected in 2023, she intends to implement a three-point agenda of Peace, Equity, and Wealth (PEW). She believes leadership is not gender-specific but good leadership is the goal. 

The former President is confident that her 15 years of leadership experience and exposure will be instrumental in leading Nigeria out of its peril.

Will the former NIDO president who has never held any political position in Nigeria receive the same support she received from the Nigerians in Diaspora in Nigeria? 

Personal Life

Patience Ndidi Key is a citizen of both Nigeria and the USA. She is an entrepreneur, a philanthropist, a humanitarian, and the founder of a non-profit organization known as Patience Key Foundation.

Scandals 

In 2020, she was involved in a lawsuit against NIDOA for not ceasing from acting in the name of the organization after the expiration of her term in office without authority thereby infringing the trademarks of the organization. The United District Court for the District of Columbia however denied the motion on the grounds of insufficient points.
