Plateau: Buhari Seeks Senate Approval To Reimburse N9.6 Billion Spent On Federal Roads

President Muhammadu Buhari has written to the Nigerian Senate, seeking approval of the reimbursement of over N9.6 billion to Plateau and Borno states as funds expended on federal roads.

President Buhari’s letter was read by the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan during Tuesday's plenary in Abuja.

According to the letter, the refund would be carried out in the form of a promissory note payable to Plateau and Borno States Government for the rehabilitation of Federal highways in the country.

A breakdown shows that of the said amount, Plateau State will receive N6.6 billion and Borno State with get N3.8 billion through the Issuance of promissory notes in respect of federal road projects executed by the States government. 

Also, the President of the Senate read three other letters from President Buhari, transmitting to the upper chamber for consideration and passage.


They include; Transmission of the Nigerian Police Force College Training School and Institution (Establishment) Bill, 2023, Transmission of the Nigeria Data Protection Bill and and Confirmation of the appointment of Abdu Abubakar as Non-Executive Director of Central Bank of Nigeria for a 2ndand final term.
