The Plateau State Government has revoked the operation licences of all private primary and secondary schools in the state.

This was revealed in a press conference by the state's commissioner for education, Elizabeth Wampum.

Wampum who made the revelation on Thursday said the revocation of the operation licenses came after a report showed that over 5,000 private schools in the state operate without approval.

According to her, 90% of private schools in the state do not follow the state government's policies and mandates.

She further disclosed that of the 495 private schools given licenses earlier, 85% had compromised on the licenses.

While declaring the revocation of the licenses, she said, “This is to inform the general public that the operating license of all private Nursery/Pre-primary, Primary, Junior Secondary and Senior Secondary Schools in the State will have to revalidate their certification.”

She further stated that the move will ensure that the state is rid-off of illegal private schools while having a plan to support quality education in the state.
