Operatives of the Nigerian Police Force in Anambra on Sunday evening shot a gunman dead in Uli, Ihiala Local Government Area of the state.
The gunman who was said to be driving other armed men was neutralized around 5 pm with their operational vehicle and charms recovered.
The Police Spokesman, Ikenga Tochukwu, said the gunmen were repelled when they opened fire while approaching a checking point.
“Anambra State Police Operatives today 26/6/2022 at about 4:45 pm gun down the driver conveying arm men in Uli, recovered one Honda Odyssey salon car with reg nos. WER 221 ZS-IMO and Charms."
“The Operatives at a nipping point along Onitsha/Owerri road, Uli repelled an attack by the gunmen. The gunmen applied one-way and started shooting sporadically, approaching the personnel at the checking point.
"The Operatives swiftly engage the arm men and demobilized their operational vehicle. While some of them escaped through the bush, the driver was neutralized. No loss of life on part of the police.”
“Operation is still ongoing in the area, further details shall be communicated please!” the statement said.
