President Buhari to Commission Yobe Airport, Maternity

The Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni has disclosed that president Muhammadu Buhari will be commissioning several projects in the state soon. 

Buni said some of the projects to be commissioned by the president include the Yobe International Cargo Airport, Schools and Nigeria's largest Maternal and Child Healthcare Complex at the State Teaching Hospital in Damaturu.

The governor made this known today (Wednesday) while receiving officials of the GSM traders and technicians association in Damaturu, the state's capital.

Buni said all the projects have been completed and ready for inauguration at a date to be announced later. 

As contained in a statement today by the spokesperson to the governor, Mamman Mohammed, Buni said his administration is also empowering 300,000 youths in the state through its Ministry of Wealth Creation and Empowerment.

"The state Ministry of Wealth Creation and Empowerment was established to provide youth with employment opportunities, government is making adequate provisions for the empowerment."

Buni further assured that after the inauguration of the projects, the people of Yobe will will benefit from them, adding that economic empowerment would be enhanced. 

He also said the GSM sellers and technicians will be allocated shops in each of the modern markets and supported with advanced technical knowledge.

While charging the association to collaborate with the state Ministry of Wealth Creation and the Yobe Information Technology Development Agency (YITDA), he added: "We have a young and vibrant Director General heading YITDA who will support you in training and other technical skills to fast track your technical expertise to expand your trade."

Buni further supported the association with a bus and 10 shops at the newly inaugurated Ahmad Lawan Modern Market in Gashua.

Meanwhile, the leader of the delegation, Alhaji Malam Ali commendedGovernor Buni for the goodwill and support rendered to the association and others.

"Our members benefitted from loan facilities which were later written off.

"For us to expand and grow, we remain grateful and appreciative of all your laudable efforts."
